Harmony General Baptist Church began as a small church in Ellsinore, MO in 1927. At that time, it was known as Pleasant Hill. The next year, in 1928, people began to refer to church as Barefoot, and it was recorded in the minutes as Harmony General Baptist. Some elders refer to this community as Barefoot to this day.
Jerry Crowley, who still attends Harmony, began pastoring here in the late 70s and stayed until the mid-80s before moving to pastor at other churches. It wasn't until 2013 that Bro. Jerry returned to pastor Harmony. In 2019, Bro. Wayne Ogden began his preaching career at Harmony, under the careful guidance of Bro. Jerry Crowley.
